Conference Venue
The Monterey Meeting Connection, made up of the Monterey Conference Center, the Portola Hotel & Spa, and the Marriott Hotel, is situated on Portola Plaza, within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf , Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, shopping areas, restaurants, and other attractions of Monterey, California. Many scenic and historic sites and championship golf courses are just a short drive away along the seacoast north or south of Monterey.
Hotels
The Conference headquarters hotels are the Marriott (350 Calle Principal, Monterey, CA 93940) and the Portola (2 Portola Plaza, Monterey, CA 93940). Both are connected to the Conference Center, and Conference functions will be held in each of the three buildings. The two hotels had set aside substantial numbers of rooms for Conference attendees at group and government rates effective through April 16, 2012. However, as of late February, both had nearly sold out their Conference blocks as well as most other rooms. Because rooms may be available intermittently as individual reservations are occasionally canceled, we suggest you start with the headquarters hotels. If neither has a room that meets your needs, try the "Resort 2 Me" Monterey hotel reservation service.
- Reservations at Marriott and Portola: Group Rates. To see available options at one of the headquarters hotels, click here and insert arrival and check-out dates. Available rooms and rates at the two hotels will be displayed; before submitting your reservation, note the rate and review the payment and cancellation requirements. To reserve by phone, call the Marriott’s reservations department at 888-236-2427 or the Portola’s at 831-649-4511; mention that you are attending the “Battelle Chlorinated Conference” to obtain the best group rate available. Be sure to note your registration confirmation number and to inquire about the hotel’s cancellation and early check-out policies.
- Reservations at Marriott and Portola: Government Rates. Reservations at the U.S. Government per diem rate must be made online using a special access code. If you are a U.S. federal, state, or local government employee (not a contractor), request the link and code from The Conference Group (800-783-6338 or 614-488-2030; info@confgroupinc.com). Be sure to review the payment and cancellation requirements and determine what ID the hotel will require at check-in to verify that you are a government employee.
- Reservation Service: Resort 2 Me. Click here to see rooms available at nearby hotels at group and government rates. To speak with a reservations team member about other options, call 831-642-6622 and be sure to mention that you are attending the Battelle Chlorinated Conference and request hotels near the Conference Center. The service does not charge booking or cancellation fees, but be sure to ask what cancellation fees would be assessed by the hotel. If you are a government employee, ask what ID the hotel you select will require upon check-in to verify that status.
Air Transportation
Major air service is available into the Monterey Peninsula Airport, but flying into San Francisco International or San Jose International also is an option. The Monterey/Salinas Airbus Shuttle (831-373-7777) provides San Francisco-San Jose-Monterey service; the San Jose-Monterey leg is $35 one way. Approximate driving time is 2 hours from San Francisco and 1-1/2 hours from San Jose. Transportation from Monterey Peninsula Airport to the hotels is available by taxi for approximately $15 one way. Airport transportation is not provided by the hotels.
Hotel Parking
As of April 2011, parking rates include in and out privileges at the following rates:
- Portola Hotel and Spa: $20 per day valet/$17 per day self-park
- Marriott Hotel: $19 per day valet (no self-park)
There also are nearby city parking facilities at a cost of $7 and up. Note: the Conference cannot validate parking.
