Columbus, OH—Battelle announced today that Alex Fischer was elected by the Board of Directors to be a corporate officer at Battelle.


Fischer is a Senior Vice President for Business and Economic Development responsible for government relations and public policy, business development, commercialization and economic development.


He joined Battelle last year after serving as Director of Technology Transfer and Economic Development for UT-Battelle at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Prior to that Fischer served as Deputy Governor and chief of Staff to Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist and also served as the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.


“I am honored to be elected as an officer at Battelle,” Fischer said. “I’ve been immersing myself in Central Ohio for more than a year and am excited about the continued opportunities Battelle has in working with the community to improve technology and economic development.”


Fischer, 41, graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in city planning.


He lives with his wife and two children in Upper Arlington.
