BATTELLE ANNOUNCES TEAMING MEMBERS FOR BID TO MANAGE AND OPERATE THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST NATIONAL LABORATORY

Battelle will team with the University of Washington, Washington State University, and Babcock and Wilcox Technical Services for the management and operating contract for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Battelle officials announced today.

 

“I am pleased to announce that these two outstanding universities and well-known engineering and operations company will be teaming with us in bidding,” said Carl Kohrt, Battelle President and CEO.

 

“The University of Washington and Washington State University have agreed to partner with us—an arrangement that will greatly expand opportunities to collaborate on joint research programs as well as further build staff and faculty exchanges.  Having these two widely respected research universities linked with us certainly strengthens our position as the best choice for PNNL,” Kohrt said.

 

The team also is enhanced with the addition of Babcock and Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc., formerly known as BWXT Services, Inc.  B&W TSG, which provides management, operational, and technical services for government and industry customers, will be working with Battelle to manage high-hazard facilities and operations.

 

Battelle has a significant record of achievement as PNNL’s operator for nearly 43 years.
