Columbus, OH--Battelle announced today that it was awarded a $1.45 million contract to transform C-17 aircraft Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO) operations at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center in Georgia.

As prime contractor, Battelle's team will design lean/cellular operations to dramatically increase C-17 workload capacity at the Air Force depot. Other team members include Standard Aero and LOGTEC.

The work will specifically involve engineering and delivering a business unit design to accommodate a steep C-17 workload growth requirement over the next few years at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center.

"The C-17 Globe Master II is a critical national security resource and will be for many years to come," said Mike Hogan, the Air Force Market Sector Sustainment Account Director in Battelle's Warner Robins, GA field office. "Our work will help ensure efficient and effective availability of this fleet for our military services and the taxpayers."

Battelle is a key player in the transformation market winning three significant contracts in under three years at three U.S. Air Force logistics depots--Warner Robins, Oklahoma City, and Ogden Air Logistic Centers. Battelle performed nearly $1.6 billion in national security related work in 2006.
